Customer Review: Calculatingly Cool
So I finally decided to get myself a new handheld calculator. The old one was being held together by scotch tape, and although still (almost) operable, it just didn’t give the right impression at meetings when a key would fall off during important discussions. (Like the cost of lunch)

I’ve used my old faithful for nearly ten years, but as the time for loyalty and nostalgia expired with the “plus” key, it was time to boldly venture into the wide, wild world of stationery to search for a new toy.

After peering for what seemed like centuries at the dazzling array of handheld calculators that could do everything except pack the groceries, I made a calculated (okay, desperate) decision to choose by brand first, and appearance next. Brand was easy - Texas Instruments sounded like it should be used by engineers or very bright college kids, so not even being able to remember what a “cosine” was, I decided for a simple but trustworthy brand like Casio. (There were cheaper ones, but somehow the ones with brightly colored keys that play a tune just didn’t say “Corporate” to me)

This one folds up into what looks like a flat cigarette case, can fit in your pocket, and has an embossed stylized leaf on the cover. Sleek and sturdy looking, yet cool enough not to be nerdy, it has an 8 digit display with big numbers (all the better to see them with, my dear) and also big keys with a rubberized finish for non-skid number crunching.

But that’s not all - it can also calculate tax rates (handy for those shopping expeditions when there’s that pesky tax added on), and has three exchange rate conversion memory functions for overseas trips. You can calculate both “price plus tax” and “price less tax” after setting the applicable tax rate, and by pressing a button a second time you can see the actual tax figure also. Instructions are included in several languages, and even the English is comprehensible.

Last, but not least, it is dual powered (battery and solar), shuts off by itself, and the battery can be replaced, making this an ideal calculator for business persons, travelers and mall rats everywhere.

Customer Review: Poor design
Installing the paper tape proved to be impossible. The inside paper slot is invisible, there is no room for your fingers to guide the paper tape, & the paper tape is too soft to be pushed into the slot. After 20 minutes of trying I just gave up.
Customer Review: Perfect Size
I’ve owned several Casio calculators over the years and have been very pleased with all of them, this one included. I particularly like the size and the keypad has a nice feel (or touch) to it. I wanted something smaller, since I no longer have a home office. It’s convenient to have the printing feature when I need it. The price was very reasonable. It has many “features”, (although I will probably never use most of them) it’s nice to know they are available. This product deserves a five star rating.

Customer Review: The perfect calculator for up to 8th grade
This calculator is easy to use and had good button feel. It does fraction calculations (a great function for students under 5th grader who are just learning about fractions but don’t know about decimals). It reduces fractions and also does division with remainders. My daughter uses it to check her math. It is a great little calculator. Also comes with a hard case - good for carrying in the backpack.

This is a pretty good calculator with a few functions in them. This calculator is very easy and simple for anyone to use because you won’t get confuse over the few functions it has. You don’t have to search around for the many functions you are looking for.It is good for people who doesn’t like to have to many function like using the 2nd key for other functions. It has a nice fraction key for people to see the fraction the way its suppose to be. There are also many functions on this calculator that it doesn’t have that is really important for math.

Customer Review: Great for small business!
When you’re hesitant to go to the expense of a cash register, this is a great calculator for a small retail business - which is exactly why I purchased it. The keys are large, paper roll insertion is easy and the automatic tax calculation key (TAX+) for sales is helpful. The Casio website is also helpful for tech support. I purchased this item used without a manual and needed to know how to set the tax rate. (It was preset to 5% and I needed to change it to 6.5%.) Within a day they emailed me back with step-by-step instructions. If you are also struggling to figure this out and can’t find the info on the web (as I couldn’t) here are the steps as they provided to me:

1. Set calculator to “print.”
2. Press CA.
3. Press SET key for about 3 seconds.
4. Enter tax rate.
5. Press TAX+.
6. Press SET.

By the way, the SET key is the percent key.

We use this in the office of our non-profit organization. It works well, keys are straight forward. Only problem we have encountered so far is failed attempts to find out how to reink the rollers on the web!
